PUTO FLAN (ala gracie)
(recipe)
for PUTO:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar (depend on your taste you can reduce it)
1 tbsp baking powder
3 whole eggs
1/2 cup fresh milk
1 tbsp butter (melted)
1 tsp vanilla extract
for FLAN:
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup condensed milk
1/2 cup evaporated milk
Tools
Steamer
puto molds
PROCEDURE
First, you have to cook the flan.
FOR FLAN
Mix the egg yolks, condensed and evaporated milk well. Put only 2 to 3 tbsp of the mixture in the Puto molds. And cook it in the steamer for 20. Or until it is stable. Half cooked it.
FOR PUTO:
While steaming the flan, make the puto mixture.
1. Mix all dry ingredients then add the eggs one at a time while mixing, add the milk, then water. Mix well. Then add the melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
Pour the Puto mixture above the flan mixture that you have cooked. Then bring it back to steamer and cooked it again for 15 minutes or until Puto is cooked.
After cooking, let it cool and carefully get the Puto out of their molds and flip it over, which now the flan is on top.
Plate it and serve. You can refrigerate it also if you want to serve it cold.
Note:
This is a base recipe. You can put any flavor you want. Like for me, sometimes I made my Puto into chocolate flavor and my flan I put coffee or mocha. You can also make it into bite-size but it will be more tricky to get it out in the molds but will be fun, trust me :)
